Relaunched! Now in Public Beta

Welcome to the newly relaunched Nonprofit Tech website. We are officially in ‘public beta’. There are still a lot of things we are working on including, the addition of lots more content. We have a wonderful resource library of thousands of reports, papers, presentations, videos, and more. Its information we’ve collected from around the web and in person, while performing research for clients, presentation, and our technology transfer efforts. So some of the research and writings will be ours, but most will be from a wide array of brilliant individuals who’ve focused their minds, attentions, and efforts on the vast number of issues facing nonprofit organizations.

Our relaunch, changes the focus of the website. Instead of the website being primarily about us, Nonprofit Tech, and our activities; we’ve decided to focus on the world of nonprofits, technology, and social networks. We spend so much of our time introducing nonprofit staff, volunteers, and even the consultants that work with them to quality information, ideas, and resources, that the decision to make that information widely available was easy.

As in most things, easy offers a host of challenges. Ours was how to keep access, to what will grow to be a rather large collection of information, easy, targeted, and useful. There are tens of thousands of pieces of information being generated daily, so how do we provide exposure to the host of new issues and ideas, while still focusing on the collection of research that we’ve found meaningful? The site’s design is our attempt to address both those issues. The front page offers a visual collection of news and media, headlines from those working in the sector, quick spotlights, and our thoughts on which of them you should focus your attentions on; five at a time.

We’ve opted to use Google search, combined with a number of other ideas to help you filter through the information. In the next weeks and months, we will also offer ways for you to collect, contribute, and comment on the materials provided.
