Nonprofit Tech Becomes Kiva Entrepreneur
As you may know, Nonprofit Tech is a huge fan of Kiva.org. We believe that organizations like Kiva, the Heifer Project, and Changing the Present provide new and exciting opportunities for individuals and organizations to effect change through-out the world. They provide easy to use, easy to follow, systems that offer direct access to doing good while minimizing barriers to entry.
While we have frequently donated to Kiva’s organizational expenses, directly and most recently using Causes, because of the added transparency for us (Nonprofit Tech) and them (Kiva). We’ve recently decided to join Kiva as an Entrepreneur. So that we can give micro-loans to those struggling to create a better life for themselves.
Loans can be as little as $25 to a specific low-income entrepreneur in the developing world. We’ve set-up a pot of $200 to manage via a pool from our staff.
The great thing about Kiva is our $200 contribution can be used over and over again, since the recipients repay their loan. It’s a powerful and sustainable way to empower someone right now to lift themselves out of poverty.
We’re just starting, but keep track of our efforts at: Nonprofit Tech on Kiva.org.
Sincerely,
Alnisa
