nonprofit_tech: Technology spectrum changes to damn fast. Finishing up a draft that has comparisons between Blackbaud, Convio, Kintera for client. Revise!!
nonprofit_tech: Reading about Google's data center, GFS, Big Table, and MapReduce: http://snipurl.com/2bkhp Fascinating. Love desktop version of GFS.

nonprofit_tech: @simonw That said, read this: http://snipurl.com/2bik6 about Password & Security Myths. EduCause did some interesting work on the issue.
nonprofit_tech: @simonw Research that IDs weakness in the strategy is done by alternative security options—biometrics, etc. But no proof either way.
nonprofit_tech: @simonw It's both a risk and enhancer. Assuming minimal crack effort, 90d offers some protection; but 'human' element of risk increases.
nonprofit_tech: Reading about DoS attach against Revision3: http://snipurl.com/2bii5 There should be no legitimate reason a business can launch a DoS.
nonprofit_tech: Looking for Twitter clones. Need Twitter for client's intranet. I've looked at ReVou but company has bad rep. Any options? PHP coding best.
nonprofit_tech: @peterscampbell I don't think a lot of time needs to be invested to be engaging. But, yes, some time is better than none. Most NPOs—none.
nonprofit_tech: @peterscampbell They've raised $11,500+ via FaceBook w/12,186 members. Vs GLSEN who recruits well w/3,597 members, but miserly $50 donated.
nonprofit_tech: @peterscampbell I think the more active the Cause, the better the return. Look at Kiva vs GLSEN. Kiva works Causes and social networks.
nonprofit_tech: @peterscampbell Most Causes on FB are initiated by fans or volunteers. Those NPOs who have made the effort probably get better returns.
nonprofit_tech: @ryanirelan Wow! Congrats on the Expression Engine ScreenCast project. They look good. Heard via @nathansmith
nonprofit_tech: Lot's of administrative to-do's today. Conference calls, check writing, billing clients, and more. Hopefully, will still have time to write.
nonprofit_tech: I'm interested in seeing Project Agape making Causes more portable. I'd love to display the Causes, we support on our website, w/metrics.
nonprofit_tech: Obviously, there's still room for growth, especially on the donation side. But Causes proves that nonprofit FaceBook apps can be successful.
nonprofit_tech: About 'Causes'. I find other stats interesting. They have 12 million users and 80,000 causes worldwide. That's pretty amazing.
nonprofit_tech: Project Agape's Facebook app, Causes, reports on it's first year of giving. http://snipurl.com/2b8v5 $2.5 Million for 20,000 nonprofits.

nonprofit_tech: @ruby Yeah! Admittedly Twitter is faster pace than RSS updates. But just think of all those Twitter apps slamming the service every 1-3min.
nonprofit_tech: @Twitterrific Support for https would be great feature. Safer for cafe logins, but also bypasses some proxy blocks.
nonprofit_tech: @chigaze Yeah, Ellis Lab abstracted Code Igniter from EE to promote a PHP framework. But framework has grown and now EE2.0 based on CI.
nonprofit_tech: @ruby I consider Summize, Quotably, & Tweetscan exceptions, but otherwise once every 5min max, recommend 1 every 10, allow manual checks.
nonprofit_tech: @ruby Then people finally realized once every 30min was fine for most sites. Twitter should limit services using the API, w/some exceptions
nonprofit_tech: @ruby Thanks! I forgot that Twitterfic pages every 3 min. I set for 15min. Reminds me of 5min RSS feeds update period. Sites were crippled.
nonprofit_tech: @peterscampbell That would resolve the EDGE eats battery power faster than wireless issues, I have with my iPhone. Though cloudy days
)
nonprofit_tech: @chigaze Still love Expression Engine, but now that EE2.0 will be based on Code Igniter (just as CI was based on EE); I'm playing catch-up.
nonprofit_tech: @chigaze That's great. I'm trying to schedule time to delve back into Code Igniter. I played with it when 1st released, but stuck w/EE.
nonprofit_tech: Next, explore options to collect more money from nonprofit, now that they charge for services—revoking 501(c)3 or local or state exemptions.
nonprofit_tech: Obvious, more detailed than that, but generalizing...1st cut funding for social services, forcing more nonprofit's to charge for services...
nonprofit_tech: @sharonschneider The article focuses on Minnesota; but there has been a growing number of challeges, including IRS challenges.
nonprofit_tech: @Pistachio I've noticed that sometimes Summize data is out of sync (off by an 1hr); but otherwise to the second. It's an API app, so limits.

@linktastic: Not Sean ‘Puffy’ Combs, just a marketer. Links aren’t purely deceptive, the topic is specific, if ad based.
@googlesense: Most likely, NOT Sergey Brin of Google. Links are not deceptive. They just link to paid advertising on topic.
